Mahana (Green Sand) Beach also known as Papakolea Olive color sand due to area of olovine (semi-precious green stone). Very isolated. Difficult access. Access requires jeep or four-wheel drive vehicle. Hazardous hike down to the beach, with drops of four to five feet. |

Punaluu Beach Park Black sand beach. Some of the only safe swimming on the south coast is found here. However, the riptides can be extreme, and the waves unpredictable. Use caution when swimming here. The best swimming area is the Northeast end of the beach, near the boat ramp. ● Restrooms ● Showers ● Pavilion ● Camping (permit needed) |

Road to the Sea Black Sand Beach One of the most beautiful coastlines on the island. Black and green sand, isolated beach. Four-wheel drive required. Fairly safe swimming, but observe ocean conditions before entering the water. ● No lifeguards |
