Hawaiian food originates from a wide variety of cultures. The Big Island offers a wide variety of dining options, from comfort food to international cuisine, out-of-the-way stops to upscale dining rooms. Most of the upscale restaurants on the Big Island are located on the Kohala Coast, many in five-star hotels. Waimea has a few of the Big Island's best. Hilo, the largest town on the island, has midrange restaurants with delicious food. Be sure to try some of the locally owned, smaller stops.
