Large black lava rock that separates the two halves of Ka’anapali Beach. Snorkeling is legendary around the rock, lots of fish and coral. Be careful of the current around the rock. Watch for turtles.

Hanakaoo Canoe Beach
Lahaina, Maui
Take your pick from jet skiing, boogie boarding, body surfing, watching canoe races and swimming. Snorkeling not good here due to bad visibility. Popular with locals, especially on weekends.

D.T. Fleming Beach Park
Kapalua, Maui
Long and wide beach with lots of shade. Very popular with locals, weekends can be very crowded. Facilities aren’t as well kept as other parks. Boogie boarding can be good, afternoons very windy.

One of the best beaches on Maui. Concrete path which runs from Black Rock to the Hyatt. Much celebration at Black Rock at sunset.

Usually a wide, white spread of sand. Slightly cloudy water, sandy bottom with steep shorebreak. |

Launiupoko Beach Park

Gorgeous views of Lanai and Molokai. Good place for surfers when waves are up. Good for whale watching in winter season.

Large sandy beach, can get fairly crowded. Sand slopes steeply into the water, use caution when entering.

Oneloa Beach

(There is another beach of the same name in South Maui.)
A real gem. Long, luxurious beach, uncrowded most of the time. Left third of the beach has a sandy, padded bottom making for wonderful swimming when calm. Climb up the rocks on the left side to explore tide-pools and cove. No shade, can be windy.

Puamana Beach County Park

Gentle in most conditions, but can take a big swell from southwest, west and northwest climbing to 6 feet plus. Small waves most of the year.

Ukumehame and Papalaua Parks
Southwest Maui
Stretches of beach between 11 and 13 mile markers on Highway 30. Extremely easy access. Good snorkeling where the road leaves the shoreline climbing toward the tunnel facing southeast. Good place to pull over and enjoy the view.

Wahikuli Wayside Park
Southwest Maui
Often nearly empty during the week. Restrooms can be pretty bad. Marginal beach, murky water. Wahikuli means noisy place which is appropriate as this park is close to the highway.
