From Molikini Crater fish sanctuary to the beach next to your condo, Maui offers some of the world's best snorkeling. Check out the four marine preserves: Honolua Bay, Ahihi Bay, Molokini and part of La Perouse Bay. Here, fish are protected by law and abundant. Fishing and collecting is not permitted. Please respect Maui's underwater world. Don't stand or walk on coral; it is alive and can be hurt with just the thump of a fin. Don't touch or chase the marine life. They are curious creatures, let them come to you. Be careful for sea urchins. Their sting is painful and can be treated with vinegar. Morning is the best time to snorkel as seas are calmer than in afternoon. |
