You can enjoy the bustle of Honolulu... exciting cultural events, exhilarating nightlife, and a huge variety of excellent shopping, lodging and dining. However, Honolulu is a fast paced, large city, and has all the troubles that other large cities haveā€¦ traffic, crowds, high cost of living, crime, and a lack of affordable housing. So, if it's peace, serenity, and relaxation you imagine when dreaming of your Hawaiian vacation, Honolulu may not be for you.

You can find that peaceful, serene, relaxing atmosphere on Oahu if you do some exploring. There are lots of areas outside of Waikiki that offer a slower pace and less crowded surroundings. The North Shore is famous for its 25 foot waves (in winter months), rustic charm, secluded white sand beaches and quaint surf town feel. If you explore the Koolau and Waianae mountain ranges that form Oahu you will find amazing natural beauty. Some beautiful mountain hikes are just a 15-minute car ride away from Waikiki.

The Polynesian Cultural Center highlights eight South Pacific nations in a beautifully landscaped 42-acre setting. Many of Hawaii's most historic buildings, including Iolani Palace, are located in the heart of Honolulu. Explore the North Shore... while you're there be sure to visit the Bonzai Pipeline to see some amazing surfing. Visit Bishop Museum, the largest museum in the state and the premier natural and cultural history institution in the Pacific. Take a hike to Makapuu Point... the views of Sandy Beach, Koko Head, and Waimanalo Bay are awesome. Pay tribute to America at Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. See Waikiki and Oahu from the Top of Diamond Head. The Honolulu Zoo is the largest zoo within 2,300 miles and is too often missed by visitors.

Oahu is comprised of many ethnic groups, each celebrating their uniqueness while embracing the Spirit of Aloha. Share in this celebration with cultural activities and festivals located throughout the island. Take in all of Oahu!
